Trip to Kraków Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine

On 29–30 November, our Erasmus+ students embarked on an unforgettable two-day educational adventure that combined history, culture and shared moments they will remember for years to come.

The first day began with a deeply moving visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Walking through the museum and memorial site gave students a chance to reflect on one of the most tragic chapters in human history. It was an experience that encouraged thoughtful discussion, empathy and a stronger understanding of the past.

In the afternoon, the mood shifted as the group travelled to Kraków, where everyone was given time to explore the city individually. Students wandered through the charming Old Town, enjoyed warm cafés, browsed local shops and discovered corners of Kraków that captured their curiosity and imagination.

The second day was dedicated to discovering the city's most iconic sites. The students visited the Cloth Hall, admired the stunning interior of St. Mary’s Basilica, walked up to the Wawel Castle, and met the legendary Wawel Dragon — a favourite moment for many.

After exploring the heart of Kraków, the group continued their journey to the remarkable Wieliczka Salt Mine. Venturing deep underground, they explored breathtaking chambers carved entirely from salt, saw intricate sculptures and learned about the history of this unique UNESCO site.

The trip was a beautiful blend of learning, reflection and excitement. We hope that each student returned not only with new knowledge, but also with friendships strengthened, horizons broadened and memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.
