Student Research Societies Awarded in the Rector’s “IMPULS” Competition at the University of Rzeszów
Prizes for the best research projects of student research societies have been awarded! As part of the “IMPULS” Grant of the Rector, established on the initiative of the Rector of the University of Rzeszów and the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Student Research Societies, the most innovative initiatives of young researchers were recognised.
The “IMPULS” Competition
A total of 15 projects were submitted in three thematic areas:
- sustainable development,
- the use of artificial intelligence in scientific research,
- medicine and quality of life.
The evaluation was carried out by an interdisciplinary team of independent experts appointed within the Student Scientific Society. Three main prizes were awarded: the Golden, Silver and Bronze Impulse.
Golden Impulse was awarded ex aequo to:
- SKN Molekuła for the project Determination of chemerin, vaspin and progranulin in children with morbid obesity – searching for early metabolic markers. Academic supervisors: Associate Professor Rafał Podgórski, Associate Professor Sabina Galiniak, Dr Kornelia Łach and Dr Michalina Grzesik-Pietrasiewicz. Funding awarded: PLN 16,620.
- SKN Biochemists URCell for the project Evaluation of the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy of glioma in an in vitro model. Academic supervisor: Associate Professor Dorota Aebisher. Funding awarded: PLN 13,000.
Silver Impulse was awarded to:
- SKN Physicists for the project Intelligent assessment of anterior eye structures using deep learning methods. Academic supervisor: Dr Mirosław Łabuz. Funding awarded: PLN 10,800.
Bronze Impulse was awarded to:
- SKN AnimalEquus for the project Hucul horses in natural breeding as an element of sustainable development and biodiversity conservation. Academic supervisor: Associate Professor Jadwiga Topczewska. Funding awarded: PLN 9,580.
The “IMPULS” Competition of the Rector of the University of Rzeszów is not only financial support, but also an expression of recognition for the creativity, passion and determination of students. The grants awarded will enable young researchers to develop their projects, gain research experience, and implement innovative solutions in various fields.
