A ceremonial conferral of Bachelor's diplomas and the symbolic placing of the nursing cap upon the graduates of the Nursing programme at the University of Rzeszów

On 4 July 2025, the graduation ceremony was held for students of the Nursing programme at the Medical College of the University of Rzeszów.

Since 2003, the University of Rzeszów has offered nursing education. The first graduates of the programme completed their studies in 2007. Since its inception, the programme has produced over 4,000 graduates. This year, a total of 126 graduates (Bachelor’s and Master’s levels) are leaving the University.

The Sixth Graduation Ceremony in the History of the University

The ceremony of awarding diplomas and bestowing the nursing cap upon first-cycle Nursing graduates was held for the first time in 2020. Since then, the capping of Nursing graduates has become a tradition within the University's ceremonial calendar. This year marks the sixth such graduation ceremony for the Nursing programme.

The most significant moment of the ceremony was the symbolic placement of nursing caps on the graduates' heads. The caps were placed by experienced lecturers and individuals holding key positions in the nursing hierarchy, symbolising the passing on of knowledge and professional tradition. Following the capping, graduates recited the Nursing Pledge, committing themselves to uphold professional ethics, care for patients, and continuously develop their skills.

Tradition

The capping ceremony is a momentous occasion in the life of every future nurse. The symbolic placement of the cap signifies the graduate’s readiness to enter the profession. This tradition dates back to 1911, with the obligation to wear the cap continuing until 1990.

During the ceremony, graduates received the symbolic nursing cap and solemnly took the pledge, officially joining the nursing community and affirming their awareness of their professional responsibilities.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to the graduates for fulfilment in their careers and success in all areas of life.
