Regulations of the NAWA ‘Summer Courses’

1. In the calendar year 2026, the Polish Community Centre of the University of Rzeszów implements the following:
- “Preparatory Courses for the B2 Certification Exam”
- “Culture and Language Courses – Get to Know Poland Better”
- “Adaptation Courses”
as part of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) programme “NAWA Summer Courses”. Hereinafter in these Regulations, they are referred to as “courses”.
2. The courses are financed by NAWA and are therefore free of charge for participants.
3. Under the task “Preparatory Courses for the B2 Certification Exam”, the Polish Community Centre organises two courses:
- Online preparatory course for the B2 certification exam
- On‑site preparatory course for the B2 certification exam
4. Under the task “Culture and Language Courses – Get to Know Poland Better”, the Polish Community Centre organises three courses:
- Online “Culture and Language Course – Get to Know Poland Better”
- Three‑week on‑site “Culture and Language Course – Get to Know Poland Better”
- Two‑week on‑site “Culture and Language Course – Get to Know Poland Better”
5. Under the task “Adaptation Courses”, the Polish Community Centre organises three courses:
- Online “Adaptation Course”
- Three‑week on‑site “Adaptation Course”
- Two‑week on‑site “Adaptation Course”
Detailed course descriptions will be published on the website of the Polish Community Centre no later than 10 days before the start of each course.
6. A participant may be a foreign national or a person holding dual citizenship (Polish and foreign), for whom Polish is not a first language and who additionally meets at least one of the following criteria:
- is a student/doctoral candidate at a foreign university;
- is a first‑year student at a Polish university;
- is an academic employee at a foreign university;
- (for the Adaptation Course) is a student at a foreign university and intends to undertake studies in Poland;
- is a secondary‑school graduate abroad and holds a document entitling them to apply for studies in Poland (equivalent to the Polish matura) and intends to undertake studies in Poland (this document must not have been issued earlier than 2023);
- resides outside Poland and is a final‑year secondary‑school student whose graduation allows for application to studies in Poland and intends to undertake studies in Poland;
- (for the “Get to Know Poland Better” course) has never studied Polish in similar courses financed by NAWA or wishes to expand their knowledge about Poland and link their academic or professional career with Poland — e.g. is a student/doctoral candidate of Polish or Slavic studies at a foreign university or a future teacher of Polish as a foreign language;
- (for the “Get to Know Poland Better” course) is an academic employee willing and able to promote a positive image of Poland in their home country (e.g. persons publishing academic texts);
- (for the Adaptation Course) is a scholarship holder of a NAWA programme and a participant in the Agency’s activities (including particularly the Banach NAWA scholarship programme).
7. Applications are submitted by completing the registration form available on the website of the Polish Community Centre in the Summer Courses section, within the deadlines specified in the course information.
8. The data entered in Latin script into the registration form will be used to prepare attendance lists and certificates. Participants must verify that the data is accurate and consistent with their official documents.
9. The participant is responsible for the correctness of the data provided.
10. In addition to completing the registration form, participants must send a scan of the signed certificate confirming that they meet the eligibility criteria to kursyletnie@ur.edu.pl. This certificate must be confirmed with the signature of the head of the school or unit (e.g. Institute, Department) at the institution where the candidate studies or is employed. A template of the certificate will be sent together with the qualification decision to the email address provided during registration.
11. The organiser reserves the right to conduct an online interview before making the final qualification decision. Candidates will be informed of the need for such an interview by email sent to the address provided in the registration form. The email will include the interview date and a link to the platform on which the interview will be held.
12. When selecting participants, the organiser will follow the principle of equal access and non‑discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, or nationality.
13. Information regarding qualification or non‑qualification for the course will be sent to the email address provided during registration.
14. Online courses are conducted on the Microsoft Teams platform. Participation requires access to a computer or laptop with a functioning camera and microphone.
15. (for on‑site courses) The organiser provides free accommodation in a student residence hall in double rooms and free meals (three per day). Dietary preferences will be collected in a separate survey.
16. The following candidates have a higher chance of being accepted:
- persons who have not yet participated in any NAWA‑funded course;
- for on‑site courses: persons who have participated in an online NAWA‑funded course and demonstrated good results and engagement;
- citizens of developed countries (see the list provided);
- students of top universities (e.g. top 100 in the Shanghai Ranking);
- persons who demonstrate that participation in the course will be continued or reflected in their future academic or professional development;
- persons willing and able to promote a positive image of Poland in their home countries (e.g. persons who publish academic or popular‑science texts);
- persons who contribute positively to group dynamics and show strong motivation to study.
17. Persons who are not accepted will be placed on a waiting list.
18. It is possible to participate in one online course and one on‑site course, provided that the participant shows engagement and high attendance in the first course they attend.
19. If circumstances arise that prevent participation, the participant must promptly notify the organiser — the Polish Community Centre — so that the place can be offered to someone on the waiting list.
20. If the participant fails to inform the organiser that they will not attend the course, the organiser will report this to NAWA. This may result in the participant being excluded from future NAWA programmes.
21. Each participant of the NAWA Summer Courses is obliged to:
- actively participate in classes;
- achieve at least 75% attendance in all classes; in case of absence from compulsory classes, the participant must discuss the programme individually with the instructor (if the attendance requirement is not met, the organiser will inform NAWA and the participant’s home institution);
- contribute to a positive atmosphere, mutual respect, and cooperation in class;
- take part in evaluation activities during and after the course, including completing the online survey within 14 days after it is made available (one or two days before the end of the course);
- cooperate with university staff and instructors to achieve the best possible learning outcomes;
- (for on‑site courses) take care of accommodation facilities, classrooms, and provided learning materials;
- (for on‑site courses) cover travel costs to and from Rzeszów;
- (for on‑site courses) hold valid medical insurance covering potential transport to their home country;
- comply with these Regulations.
22. If a visa is required, the organiser of the on‑site course will send the necessary documents before the start of the course.
23. After completing the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
