About Us

The University Centre for Research and Development in Health Sciences (UCRDHS) is an independent organisational unit within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Psychology, Collegium Medicum, University of Rzeszów. The Centre was established as part of the University’s restructuring, following the division of the Natural Sciences and Medical Centre for Innovative Research into two separate centres.

The Centre is a research and development unit that provides a modern platform for interdisciplinary research as well as teaching and practical training in medical sciences and health sciences, including physiotherapy, nursing, midwifery, emergency medical services, public health, dietetics, and the study of human functioning in health and disability.

Main objectives and tasks of the UCRDHS

  • Conducting scientific and experimental research on internal and external factors that affect tissues and the human body as a whole, as well as on neurorehabilitation, innovative therapeutic methods, movement biomechanics, and the functioning of healthy individuals and people with disabilities.
  • Enhancing the University’s research capacity by facilitating research projects and training activities.
  • Developing and validating medical and diagnostic tools and products for health assessment and disease diagnosis.
  • Supporting the education of students, doctoral candidates, trainees, specialists, and external stakeholders by providing access to laboratories equipped with advanced measurement and analytical equipment.
  • Fostering interdisciplinary cooperation among entities in, inter alia, physiotherapy, biomechanics, nursing, midwifery, emergency medical services, public health and dietetics, in order to develop comprehensive disease-prevention programmes and therapeutic approaches spanning multiple scientific disciplines.
  • Translating research outcomes into clinical practice, aimed at improving standards of care for people with mobility limitations, chronic diseases and disabilities.
  • Supporting innovation through the implementation of new technologies (e.g. motion-analysis systems, rehabilitation robots, diagnostic human–machine interfaces, telerehabilitation solutions, and modern therapeutic methods that support patients of different ages, including people with disabilities).
  • Creating conditions for the University to cooperate with other universities, research institutions, business entities and scientists in the implementation of research and development projects. The Centre may enter into agreements for the performance of research and development work both with organisational units of the University of Rzeszów and with external partners.
  • Developing innovative solutions in medical and health sciences, as well as in related disciplines.
  • Making the Centre’s research infrastructure available for commercial use.
