Bernadetta Ortyl jest geografem specjalizującym się w wykorzystaniu Systemów Informacji Geograficznej (GIS) w analizie powiązań pomiędzy elementami środowiska. Wykorzystuje narzędzia GIS oraz dane pozyskane zdalnie w badanych z zakresu rolnictwa, ekologii i ochrony środowiska. Prowadzenie badań na styku różnych dyscyplin umożliwia jej m.in. doświadczenie zdobyte podczas pracy w Instytucie Uprawy, Nawożenia i Gleboznawstwa PIB w Puławach i Instytucie Biologii Ssaków PAN w Białowieży. Jej ostanie badania skupiają się na przemianach krajobrazu rolniczego. Analizuje przyczyny, skutki oraz trendy zmian w użytkowaniu w powiązaniu ze zmieniającymi się w tle systemami politycznymi.
Bernadetta Ortyl is a geographer specializing in the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in analysis of relationships between environmental elements. She uses GIS tools and remotely acquired data from studies in the field of agriculture, ecology, and environmental protection. Conducting research at the interface of different disciplines allows her, among others, to use the experience gained during her work at the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation and Mammal Research Institute PAS. Her most recent study has been focused on agricultural landscape transformations. She analyzes the causes and effects of changes in land use as well as trends in these changes in relation to the changing political systems.
