Polish Doctor Supports Healthcare Development in the West Bank
Dr. Paweł Musiał, MD, PhD, from the Department of Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care, carried out a project entitled “Strengthening the healthcare system and ensuring equal access to medical assistance for communities at risk of exclusion in the West Bank”, implemented by the Polish Center for International Aid in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority.
The West Bank is home to around 3.3 million people, including 82% Arabs and 18% Israelis – concentrated in settlements or in East Jerusalem. As a result of decades of conflict, this region remains economically underdeveloped and largely dependent on foreign markets and international development aid donors.
As part of the project, Dr. Musiał conducted a three-day training in pre-hospital emergency medicine for mobile clinic teams operating in the West Bank. He prepared training materials tailored to local conditions and carried out an evaluation of Palestinian instructor candidates – including observation of their work, providing health information, and offering professional support during the training.
We congratulate Dr. Musiał on his courage in undertaking such a demanding mission in a difficult and unstable region!
