Graduation Ceremony of the Medical Program and the English Division of Medicine

On September 22, at the Podkarpackie Philharmonic Hall, the fourth Graduation Ceremony of the Medical Program in the history of the University of Rzeszów took place.
During the ceremony, diplomas were awarded to 133 graduates of the Medical Program and 18 graduates of the English Division of Medicine.

The graduates were accompanied by representatives of the university authorities, academic staff, members of the legislature, city officials, and local government representatives.
The event held special significance for the young doctors, marking the culmination of their six-year medical education.

Professor Adam Reich, M.D., Ph.D., Rector of the University of Rzeszów, addressed the graduates, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with the medical profession. In his speech, he congratulated the graduates and wished them professionalism in fulfilling their medical mission.

Professor Artur Mazur, M.D., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for the College of Medical Sciences, noted that this year’s graduates faced numerous challenges during their studies — including the COVID-19 pandemic, remote learning, and the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

The Graduation Ceremony also provided an opportunity to honor students who achieved the highest academic results and were actively involved in university life.
Among the distinguished graduates were:
Dr. Martyna Bukała, Dr. Aleksandra Tomkiewicz, Dr. Urszula Zelik, Dr. Aldona Sokołowska, Dr. Aleksandra Burbelka, Dr. Katarzyna Koziorowska (English Division), Dr. Konrad Wróbel, Dr. Mateusz Iwański, Dr. Aleksandra Skubisz, and Dr. Maksymilian Kłosowicz.

During the ceremony, all the young doctors took the Physician’s Oath, thereby pledging to “serve human life and health.”

A Historic Graduation Ceremony

This year marked a historic moment — the first cohort of graduates from the English Division of Medicine completed their studies and left the halls of the University of Rzeszów.

Since the establishment of the Medical Program in 2016, the University of Rzeszów has educated 516 medical doctors.

The commencement lecture was delivered by Professor Ryszard Gellert, M.D., Ph.D.

Professor Gellert is a specialist in nephrology, internal medicine, family medicine, and intensive care.
He serves as the National Consultant in Nephrology, Head of the Department of Nephrology, Internal Medicine and Family Medicine at the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP), and Plenipotentiary of the CMKP Director for Education Quality. He is also the Medical Director of the Bielański Hospital in Warsaw, a member of the Polish Society of Internal Medicine and the Polish Society of Interdisciplinary Intensive Therapy, as well as a member of the European Renal Association, the American Society of Nephrology, and the International Society of Nephrology. Professor Gellert currently serves as the President of the Federation of Polish Medical Societies.
