Associate Professor Katarzyna Styczkiewicz, MD, Appointed as Regional Consultant in Cardiology
Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Styczkiewicz, MD, PhD and Cardiology Coordinator at the University Clinical Hospital named after Fryderyk Chopin in Rzeszów (USK in Rzeszów), has been appointed Regional Consultant in Cardiology. She received her nomination from the Podkarpackie Voivode, Teresa Kubas-Hul.
“It is a great honor and distinction for me,” said Prof. Styczkiewicz. “I have held the title of cardiology specialist for nearly a decade, and I am pleased to be able to serve in an advisory capacity in making decisions regarding the healthcare needs in cardiology. Cardiovascular diseases are considered an epidemic of modern civilization. Despite continuous medical advancements, only modest improvements have been achieved in recent years, and cardiological diseases remain the leading cause of death among Poles.”
Prof. Styczkiewicz holds three medical specializations: internal medicine, cardiology, and hypertensiology (arterial hypertension). Throughout her professional career, she has been affiliated with leading medical centers in Poland and abroad, including Istituto Auxologico Italiano in Milan and the University Hospital in Kraków.
She is the author of approximately 50 cardiology publications, numerous book chapters, and dozens of scientific abstracts presented at both national and international conferences. She has participated in and led several national and European research projects. Her clinical and research interests focus primarily on hypertension, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiological issues in oncology patients.
In 2021, she received the prestigious title of Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. In 2023, she joined the Main Board of the Cardio-Oncology Section of the Polish Cardiac Society. She was also included in the “100 Women of the Year 2022” list published by Forbes Women magazine — a list that features outstanding representatives of science, business, finance, the arts, politics, sports, and other fields.
