We are contacting you to introduce you to the Programme for Polish Language Assistants in Spain and to ask you to help us spread the word about it among your students and your contacts. Who knows, you might even be interested in it personally.

This programme provides a fantastic personal and professional experience, as well as an easy immersion in the Spanish educational system. It consists in working for one school year as an assistant to Spanish teachers of English (or another subject taught in English) in public primary or secondary schools. As an assistant, you do not have teaching responsibilities (administrative, bureaucratic or academic) and you always work in the company and under the supervision of Spanish teachers. It is not a requirement to have knowledge of Spanish.

Although there may be some minor variations in some Spanish territories, the general rule is that the assistants receive a monthly allowance of 800 euros, for food and lodging, for 14 hours a week of collaboration in the schools. In some cases, as mentioned above, this allowance may be higher if the number of weekly working hours is increased. The allowance is not a salary, so it is not taxable. Polish auxiliaries are also guaranteed health care during their stay in Spain. This work is compatible with any other activity, paid or unpaid, that the assistant may wish to carry out in Spain, as long as it does not interfere with their main occupation.

We are not particularly looking for linguists, not even teachers or would-be teachers, but rather for people with a high level of English who wish to enjoy an opportunity for cultural immersion in Spain without too many responsibilities and under very advantageous conditions.

We have 60 places available for Polish applicants and the application deadline is 4 April.

This programme has been running in Spain for decades and since 2019 it is accessible to Polish citizens. Perhaps the best proof of its success is that around 40% of Polish assistants apply to renew their position for at least one more year. Applicants come from all age groups and professions. The programme requires an open mind, a positive attitude and a certain degree of flexibility.

The requirements are:

- Have a level of English of at least C1.

- Polish nationality or permanent residence in Poland.

- Have obtained a university degree or be a university student, at least in the second year.

- Be of legal age (18 years of age before 1 January 2023) and under 60 years of age on 1 January 2024.

- Submit a signed letter of motivation.

- Submit a letter of reference or report, from a teacher or employer, dated no earlier than September 2022.
