Archeologia Wczesnego Średniowiecza / Early Medieval Archaeology

W nurcie badawczym realizowanym w Katedrze Archeologii Wczesnego Średniowiecza znajdują się przede wszystkim badania nad pograniczem polsko-ruskim w szczególności nad tzw. Grodami Czerwieńskimi. Realizowane są w szerszej perspektywie historycznej uwzględniającej dorobek zarówno historiografii kręgu łacińskiego (Oskar Halecki i jego koncepcja Europy Środkowo-wschodniej; Klaus Zernack i pojęcia Germania Slavica vs. Polonia Ruthenica) oraz bizantynistyki (Dmitri Obolensky i jego koncepcja Bizantyńskiej Wspólnoty Narodów). W działalności naukowej Katedry priorytetowym tematem jest pogranicze polsko-ruskie i formowanie się Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej i Wschodniej oraz studia nad wytworami kultury materialnej przy uwzględnieniu wyników badań interdyscyplinarnych i współpracy z przedstawicielami nauk przyrodniczych i technicznych.

1. dr hab. Marcin Wołoszyn, prof. UR (e-mail: mwoloszyn@ur.edu.pl) – okres wczesnego średniowiecza, średniowieczne dzieje Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej i Wschodniej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tzw. Bizantyjskiej Wspólnoty Narodów, studia komparatystyczne w zakresie pogranicza polsko-ruskiego i germańsko-słowiańskiego, interdyscyplinarna formuła badań przy wykorzystaniu dorobku współczesnej antropologii (kondycja zdrowotna populacji pogranicza, problem migracji), geologii i nauk technicznych (np. pochodzenie wyrobów kamiennych czy studia nad proweniencją wyrobów srebrnych/ołowianych w świetle analiz izotopów ołowiu).

The mainstream research carried out at the Department of Early Medieval Archaeology includes studies on the Polish-Ruthenian border, in particular the so-called Cherven Grods. They are developed in a broader historical perspective, taking into account the achievements of both the historiography of the Latin circle (Oskar Halecki and his concept of Central and Eastern Europe; Klaus Zernack and the concepts of Germania Slavica vs. Polonia Ruthenica) and Byzantine studies (Dmitri Obolensky and his concept of the Byzantine Commonwealth of Nations). The priority topic in the research of the Department is the Polish-Ruthenian borderland and the formation of East-Central and Eastern Europe as well as studies on the products of material culture, taking into account the results of interdisciplinary research and cooperation with representatives of natural and technical sciences.

UR (e-mail: mwoloszyn@ur.edu.pl)- the period of the Early Medieval period, medieval history of East-Central and Eastern Europe, with particular emphasis on the so-called Byzantine Commonwealth of Nations, comparative studies in the field of the Polish-Ruthenian and German-Slavic borderlands, interdisciplinary research analyses by the use of the achievements of modern anthropology (health condition of the border population, problem of migration), geology and technical sciences (e.g. the origin of stone products or studies on the provenance of silver / lead products in the light of lead isotope analyses).
