Proficiency in the English language

English Language Proficiency

Foreign candidates applying for studies in English should demonstrate English language proficiency at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). (B2 level of English is an upper-intermediate level that allows for fluent communication in most life situations. Individuals at this level can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, although they may occasionally make minor errors. In terms of speaking, B2 level indicates the ability to hold fluent conversations with native speakers. A person at this level can defend their opinions in discussions, express views, and present arguments for and against various issues.)

For foreign nationals applying for admission to a specific field of study, level, and profile, the University of Rzeszów is obligated to verify proficiency in the language in which the study program is conducted, at the B2 level.

This requirement does not apply to foreign nationals who are citizens of the Member States of the European Union, Member States of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Verification of language proficiency, in which the education is conducted for a specific field, level, and profile of study, will be carried out based on a document confirming knowledge of that language submitted by the foreign candidate during the recruitment process. The list of acceptable documents will be published after the relevant regulation of the Minister comes into effect.

Applicants who do not possess a document confirming English language proficiency at a level of at least B2 are required to take an exam verifying their knowledge of the English language. The Centre for Foreign Language Studies of the University of Rzeszów organizes the English Language Proficiency Exam for the purpose of recruitment for studies at the University of Rzeszów for the academic year 2025/2026.
